What is Eucharistic Adoration?

The Adoration of the Holy Eucharist, or Eucharistic Adoration, is a Catholic devotion that dates back to the early days of the Church. It involves exposing a consecrated host, the Blessed Sacrament, to give the faithful the opportunity to sit and pray in the presence of Jesus Christ.

As Catholics, we believe that the body, blood, soul and divinity of God is substantially present in the Eucharist. So while we can pray to God at anytime and anywhere; praying and worshiping before the Blessed Sacrament is a unique and powerful way to nourish your soul.

What do you do during Eucharistic Adoration?

There are no specific rules around what to do during Adoration, the most important thing is just being there. Commit to spending that time in Jesus’ presence and reflect on all that He has gone through out of pure love for us.

You could also choose to do the following during Adoration:

• Pray the Rosary or Divine Mercy chaplet
• Write in a prayer journal
• Read the Scriptures, a religious book, or a devotional book
• Personal prayer and allowing God to speak to your heart
